Assimila is working with University College London, Beijing Normal University and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to develop a system for improving crop yield simulation and prediction. The team is building on our previous work developing systems to improve land surface parameter estimation from EO data using data assimilation techniques.

We are focusing on the simulation of wheat yields using the WOFOST model and investigating the improvements that can be made through the assimilation of satellite products such as leaf area index (LAI) and well as direct assimilation of satellite derived reflectance data.
